Debbie DeGolier

March 1, 1955 — March 27, 2014

Debbie DeGolier was born March 1, 1955, to Charles & Marilyn Miller of Loveland and grew up with two sisters, Terri Walter and Liz Kochis. She graduated from Loveland HS 1973 and the College of St Mary's in Omaha 1978. While there, she met and married Steve DeGolier, May 27, 1977. Together they raised two daughters, Beka and Emily. Beka married Sid White and they are raising Mac and Rachel, all of whom live nearby. Debbie went to be with Jesus March 27, 2014, in Parker. The highlight of her life was becoming Gram. She had a unique bond with her grandchildren, showing them how to enjoy jumping in puddles, blowing bubbles in the breeze, finding shapes in the clouds and selecting pretty rocks as only the child at heart could. Six years ago, Debbie and Steve began to enjoy ballroom dancing together where they cultivated many special friendships. In 2010 she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. Through all of her treatments she and Steve continued to dance together and enjoy their friendships. Debbie always said that she would not let herself be defined by a disease, and she lived according to the belief that she would always be herself. Her gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her. She made people feel at home and respected. Everyone appreciated her ability to listen and accept them with her heart. She immediately touched her healthcare providers and caregivers, often asking them the details of their own lives, treating them like family. She always saw the good in everyone. She embodied the love of her savior, Jesus Christ. Although we will miss her dearly, we rejoice in knowing that she is at peace, in the presence of her Creator. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 4, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Horan & McConaty, 5303 E. County Line Rd., Centennial, 80122. Reception to follow at same location. Note: parking may be limited so carpool if possible. Please wear bright colors to celebrate her love of life and gardening. Also think of a favorite memory with Debbie to write down and place in a special Memory Box during the ceremony. Her favorite verse that took her through many treatments and tests… ""Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ""Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you."" - Philippians 4:4-9 She never sought to intentionally influence others yet in her own quiet way she has touched us all.
