Deanna ""Dee"" Neitzke

September 2, 1939 — June 23, 2015

Deanna ""Dee"" Neitzke, 76, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2015 in Denver, CO following a courageous battle with cancer. Dee was born September 2, 1939 in Lake City, IA to LaVona and Edward Shannon. She attended Auburn High School and married her high school sweetheart, Alan ""Al"" Neitzke on May 1, 1959. Dee and Al started their life together in Des Moines and Ankeny, IA and eventually relocated to New Hampton, IA where they spent 40 happy and productive years. In 2009 they began their transition to retirement in Colorado where they could pursue their love of travel and road trips. Dee loved all things related to sports and music. She easily transitioned from being a super fan of the Vikings to supporting the Orange Crush and loved any televised golf tournament. She was a strong community contributor through her musical talents, leadership abilities and organizational gifts. She loved leading the Gospel and Community choirs in New Hampton. Dee was an active member of Trinity Lutheran church in New Hampton and more recently joined Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Aurora, CO. She was preceded in death by her mother, LaVona Shannon, her father, Edward Shannon and her brother Duanne Shannon. She is survived by her husband Alan Neitzke; children Teri (Don) Abell and Brad (Amy) Neitzke; grandchildren Seth (Allie), Kyle and Trevor Neitzke, Timothy and Lauren Abell; sister Donna Drees and brother Mike Shannon. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, June 27 at 2:00 PM at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 11500 E Iliff Avenue, Aurora CO.
