David J. Spaustat, the most wonderful father and gramps, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025 with his children by his side.
Born in Omaha, Nebraska on Christmas day, 1943, he was named after the Star of David by Mary and Theodore. He grew up in Omaha with his much-loved brothers, James and Bill, forming bonds that lasted a lifetime.
David studied Industrial Management and Engineering at the University of Nebraska Omaha before joining the Officer’s Training Corps in the US Navy. He served with honour as a Lieutenant on the USS Turner and USS Belknap during the Vietnam War and travelled the world. After his service, he became a Certified Public Accountant and ran his own practice for nearly 45 years.
Though accomplished in his career, David’s greatest joy was his children, Ryan and Annie, and grandchildren Izzi, Macallen, Mathilda and Charlie. He was very close to his Son-In-Law Douglas and grateful to his Daughter-In-Law Deb for all her care and attention to his family.
David found deep meaning in friendship, especially with his long-time friend, Arthur. He loved the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with those he loved most—always quick with a story, a smile, and a helping hand.
He will be remembered for his kind heart, goofy sense of humour, quiet generosity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
