David Lynn Slagle, Sr.

David Lynn Slagle Sr, 79, passed away on 08/26/2025 at St Anthony’s Hospital after a brief illness. Born on 04/24/1946 to William and Virtle Slagle in Harriman TN, David was the youngest of 4 children. The family relocated to Cape Town, South Africa when David was very young due to an opportunity for his father and he remained there until he was 18. At 18 David joined the Air Force and went to Vietnam for a year. He married his childhood sweetheart Cheryl and had 2 children, David Jr and Terriane. David served proudly in the Air Force for 20 years before moving on to other endeavors including opening a trucking school.

David remarried and he and his wife, Purita, were about to celebrate their 20th anniversary. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Billy and sister Sue. Wanda, his oldest sister, survives her brother. David has a grandson Dustin who is a Physician in NYC and a great grandson Sebastián. Always ready to brighten peoples day, David had an exceptional sense of humor and could make anyone laugh!

He will be cremated by Horan McConaty and no services will be held per his wishes.
