David Robert Jones, known to many as a gentle giant, left us on May 21, 2025, at the age of 42. Born on May 17, 1983, in Thousand Oaks, CA, David found his heart and home in Palmer Lake, CO, where he lived a life full of love, laughter, and faith.
In 2009, David married the love of his life, Holly, marking the happiest day of his life. Together, they built a beautiful family, blessed with three incredible children: Benjamin, Evelyn, and Samuel. Becoming a father in 2014 was one of his proudest moments, and he cherished every moment spent with his beautiful family.
David's journey was deeply intertwined with his unwavering Christian beliefs, which he shared openly with those around him. His faith wasn't just a private affair; it was a beacon that guided his every step. Whether offering a helping hand or sharing a scripture to illuminate someone’s path, David was a testament to living a life of faith and love.
David's roots were firmly planted in the Midwest, where he graduated from Michigan State. His love for sports, especially football, was evident from a young age. He was an athlete through and through, and that passion never waned. Later, he discovered a new love for the mountains, often venturing into the great outdoors, where he felt closest to God. He climbed many of our Colorado "fourteeners", including Mt. Holy Cross, his favorite.
A man of many talents, David was not only athletic but also a builder, both in the literal and figurative sense. He worked hard, crafting not just structures but also relationships and community. Known for his humor and wit, he had that innate ability to make those around him smile.
David leaves behind his loving wife, Holly, his children, Benjamin, Evelyn, and Samuel, his parents, James Robert Jones and Victoria Patricia Krause, and his brothers, Steven and Michael. His brother Daniel predeceased him, and we find solace in knowing they are reunited. He also lives in the hearts of numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends he thought of as family.
While the details of the memorial are yet to be determined, we will come together to celebrate David's life and legacy here in Colorado and Michigan. The family takes comfort in knowing that Dave's spirit and love will live on in the hearts of those that love him.
As we remember David, we hold onto the truth that God is love, and love lives forever. His family is his legacy, a testament to a life lived with purpose and passion. Rest in peace, David. You will be dearly missed and forever cherished.
