David Michael McKnight

David Michael McKnight, 57, formerly of Parker, Colorado, passed away August 25, 2019 in Fort Pierce, Florida.

David was born July 29, 1962 in La Mesa, California to David Stanley and Beverly Ann Burns McKnight. As a kid he enjoyed playing baseball where he gained the nickname Char. He spent the majority of his childhood taking the blame for his sisters' mischievous actions.

He graduated from Smoky Hill High School and turned into a disco king in his angel flight suits. He met his wife Holly selling shoes in the mall. They instantly fell in love and soon after started their perfect family of four. While selling shoes he realized he wanted to be his own boss and went to work with his dad at Ryder Trucks in Boulder, CO. Once he got the taste of freedom, he turned into quite the entrepreneur.

David continued on to open many successful businesses including ServiceMaster, DHL, carpet cleaning, Budget truck and car rentals, Cruise America motorhome rentals, and sold carpet all while coaching his kids and traveling the world. He retired at a young age and became the number one Cougars fan following little Dave around the nation as a spectator. After little Dave's passing, Big Dave moved to be closer to his family in Florida where he enjoyed the beach and discovered ocean fishing.

David is survived by his wife, Holly; daughter, Danae McKnight; and sisters, Michele Lane and Melinda West. He was preceded in death by his son, David Christopher McKnight, on March 20, 2017.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019, from 6:00-8:00pm, at the Heartlight Center, 11150 East Dartmouth Ave., Aurora, CO 80014. (The heartlight center shares the parking lot at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home.)

A celebration of David's life will be held at 10:00am, on Saturday, August 31, 2019, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 20850 Main Street, Parker, CO 80138.
