David A. Jaynes

April 27, 1948 — November 12, 2014

JAYNES, DAVID A. 4/27/48 – 11/12/14 David A. (""Dave"") Jaynes, 66, a third-generation native Coloradan, died November 12, 2014, in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Dave was the youngest of three sons born to Pat and Oscar Jaynes, and grew up on the family farm just east of Clifton, Colorado. Most of his adult years were spent in the Denver area except for the 1970s, when he had brief stops working in the Boston, Chicago, and Minneapolis areas. In his lifetime, Dave was afforded some unique opportunities and experiences, including two distinct working careers. He was first successful as a sales and marketing manager in the international travel industry – working with people around the globe in the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Australia, many of whom he kept in touch with through the years. In 1976, Dave met his wife, Vicki, at a travel conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After a whirlwind romance, they were married in Fruitvale, Colorado later that year. And, while they began their married life in Minneapolis, they relocated to Colorado just three years later in 1979. The Jaynes family's Colorado roots were extended when their two sons were born in Denver a few years later. In the late 1980s, Dave embarked on his second career, when his personal computer interests led him into computer sales, and later, into a support, administrative, and managerial role for a large nationwide company. Dave's friends and families knew him best for his irrepressible sense of humor, his interest in Western Slope history and family genealogy, and his amazing ability to remember the most minute details (baseball stats, anyone?). He was also known for his dedication to the concerns of his family and friends. He never met a stranger, and his quick wit and genuine interest in people were his hallmarks. Dave is survived by his wife of 37 years, Vicki, and their two sons, Alan and Drew, his two brothers, John (Annie) Jaynes of Littleton, and Ron (Nancy) Jaynes of Palisade and first cousins too numerous to name. He considered himself fortunate that his life was filled with his large extended family, many acquaintances, and his co-workers of many years. A Celebration of Life will be held in Dave's memory on Friday, December 5, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Arvada United Methodist Church, 6750 Carr Street, Arvada, Colorado. A luncheon reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blue Ridge Community Farm, an Illinois nonprofit corporation serving families of children with special needs, 21529 N. Blue Ridge Rd., Chillicothe, IL 61523. Please share your memories of David and condolences with his family by signing the guestbook below.
