With heavy hearts yet treasured memories, we announce the passing of David S. Foster on February 21, 2024. A cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, David departed just shy of his 76th birthday.
Born into the warmth of a July day in 1948, David was a ray of sunshine and humor for everyone he encountered. His academic journey saw him achieve a Bachelor's degree from Sterling College, followed by a Master's degree from the Univerity of Northern Colorado, fueling his lifelong passion for learning. David's enthusiasm wasn't confined to academia: he had an enduring love for traveling, classic cars, Soul-stirring music, and the great outdoors __ be it golfing, bowling, biking, or soaking in the tranquil beauty of Winter Park's mountains.
David lived life with a contagious exuberance. He had the unique ability to transform everyday moments into extraordinary memories, whether it was going to vintage car shows, traveling on cruises, scoring a strike at the bowling alley, or leading a family bike ride. His generosity and compassion were boundless, always prioritizing his family and friends, enriching lives with kindness, and brightening days with his ever-ready humor.
He leaves a void that can not be filled but also a legacy of boundless love, unwavering faith, and laughter. He's survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Weeneja: his son Jonathan and wife Janeen along with their son James: his son Andrew, his daughter Jillian and her daughter Mariah Van Buren, his sister Shirley Yauk and her husband Wayne; his nieces Lauren Yauk and her partner Kenlyn; Dawn (Yauk) McConkey and her husband JD; his nephew David Yauk and his wife Katie and their four children; and his cousins Charles Svendsen, Elizabeth Mills (Svendsen) and Mary (Svendsen) Mendoza and husband Ernesto and cousins from Australia, John and Jillian Talbot.
He is preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Betty and his grandparents Dr. and Mrs Louis Talbot.
David's presence was a gift to us all, and while his physical absence is deeply felt, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched. He showed us the importance of reveling in life's simple joys, valuing our loved ones, and approaching life with a generous heart and playful spirit.
In a nod to David's wishes, we invite smiles through our tears as we remember the joy and laughter he brought into our lives. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas, would be a fitting tribute, supporting a cause dear to his heart and perpetuating his legacy of generosity and love for education.
As we bid farewell to an extraordinary soul, let's honor David S Foster by embracing life passionately, pursuing our interests, and spreading kindness and joy in his memory. David, your spirit will forever dance in the melodies of our lives. Until we meet again.
