Darrell R Olson

Darrell Robert Olson, Age 82, passed away peacefully the morning of September 21, 2026, at his home in Centennial, Colorado, with his loving wife and family by his side.

Darrell was born to Ralph and Esther Olson on January 8, 1944, in Bloomington, Illinois.

Darrell was a 1962 graduate of Bloomington High School.  Darrell was a part owner of a restaurant in Bloomington before ever graduating from high school.

Because of his love of the Colorado mountains, Darrell moved to Denver, Colorado in September 1963.

Darrell began his career in Denver working for the Cherry Creek Inn as a Beverage Buyer/Manager.

In June of 1965, Darrell joined the Army and served as a helicopter flight instructor.  After the Army, he went to work for the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver as an accountant.

In February of 1976, he began his career in Data Processing/Computer Management for Tele-Communication, Inc (TCI).  He also served as Product Manager for Hotel Systems at Information Solutions, Inc in Englewood, Colorado where he installed an supported large computer-based systems in hotels and resorts across the U.S. and the Caribbean.

He also worked for Aurotech, Inc. and Gerber Systems, Inc. in Englewood, Colorado.  During his career he also worked for Kroger Companies/Dillion Companies Inc. in Denver Colorado as a consultant and implementation team member for an automated grocery/GM/HBC warehouse system.  His career also included employment for Western Stone and Metal, Inc. (Shane and Company).  In 2014, he retired from AAA Trailer Sales as Data/Warehouse Manager.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Jeanne, his two children Michael Olson of Cripple Creek, Colorado and Wendy (Tim) Olson of Lancaster, California and two grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nephews.  He is also survived by one sister, Anita Wagner of Morton, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Esther Olson, two sisters Marilyn and Emmy, two brothers Ralph (Bud) and Donald and two grandchildren.
