Daphne Ann Lescombe Cornelius was born July 29, 1925, to the late Edgerton Lescombe and Ina Chambers Ramsey. Born in the Bronx, New Your, Daphne was one of two children. Her brother, Reynard, preceded her in death. Daphne completed her high school education and began working as an accountant in Harlem, NY. She excelled in her profession and established a persona which lasted a lifetime. In the early 60's she met and married United States Air Force Serviceman, Andrew Cornelius. They moved to California and, after a tour in Taiwan, they permanently settled in Denver, Colorado, in 1971. Both worked at Lowry Air Force Base, where Daphne resumed her career as an accountant at the Defense and Finance Center. Daphne's social and technical skills enabled her to become involved in several organizational activities, among them, her church, Scott United Methodist Church. She fostered those relationships, holding the positions of the treasurer of the District of the United Methodist Women's Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of ISIS in California and Denver, where she attained the title of Past Commandress. Daphne leaves to cherish her memory her son, Paul (Donna) Cornelius of Chicago, IL; grandsons, Christian R. and Justin P. Cornelius of Chicago, IL; nieces, Stephanie Townsend of Denver, CO, and Joan Llyod of Columbia, MD; Nephew, Bernard (Amy) Shriner of Broomfield, CO; great nephew and nieces, Isaiah, Brianna and Jaelyn of Broomfield, CO; uncles, Samuel Brown of Philadelphia, PA, and Leslie Chambers of Florida; sister-in-law, Rose Lescombe of New York; and brother-in-law, Tommy Cornelius of Florida. A host of family and friends, who will meet her.
