D'Ann Sanko

May 12, 1941 — October 15, 2014

D'Ann Sanko passed away peacefully at home on October 15. She was born May 12, 1941 to Harold and Dorothy Barnes. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, John; her two children, John Jr. (Mindy), Kristin (Jeff); grandchildren, Katie, Trent, Bryce and Kelsey; and brothers, Dennis Barnes and Robert Harold Barnes. D'Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and educator. She had a bachelor's degree from Marquette University; a master's degree from the University of Northern Colorado, and a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado. She taught at Northglenn High School for nearly 30 years. She also taught at Holy Family High School and Front Range Community College. Stories that her students still talk about describe how deeply she cared for all of them and how closely she worked with them to help reach their full potential. Those stories by her students show what a wonderful educator and a beautiful, caring person she was. She shall be deeply missed by everyone. A Funeral Mass in her honor will be held at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Broomfield on Tuesday, October 21, at 10:00AM.
