Corrine was born July 13, 1930, in Moorhead, MN and passed away in the morning hours of November 3, 2022, in Lakewood, CO at the age of 92.
Corrine’s siblings included 2 sisters and 1 brother. Corrine was married for 67 years before the death of her husband Ken. Corrine met Ken on a blind date in the fall of 1950 arranged by his brother Neil and his soon to be wife Adelle. Corrine and Ken were married on March 10, 1951, in Wichita Falls, TX. Corrine’s husband had enlisted in the United States Air Force where Corrine was a military wife for the next 20 years. They raised their 6 children being stationed at many bases around the country which explains why most of the children were born in the different states and cities: Wichita Falls and San Antonio, TX, Omaha, NE, and Orlando, FL.
Corrine’s early years had her working at the New Day Seed Company in Fargo, North Dakota, before working as a waitress in Pine Castle, FL, waitress at an Italian restaurant in Texas and a shoe factory in New Hampshire. Corrine was more than just a homemaker as she would tell everyone, to her family she was a caring, supportive and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend.
Corrine enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, ceramics, crafting, gardening, gambling, working her puzzle books. Ice skating was one of Corrine’s passions where she had hopes to be another Sonja Henie. Dancing was another favorite activity for Corrine, during her early years visiting Ken in Cogswell on Saturday night they would gather at the Smith Barn where Lawrence Welk at times would play and would dance to anything from the Beer Barrel Polka to the Bunny Hop. Corrine loved to dance! Corrine enjoyed watching Hallmark movies but would on occasion would watch movies on the Syfy channel. Corrine was a big sports fan watching the Colorado Rockies, the Denver Broncos and her beloved Vikings. She had traveled extensively in the United States with a trip to England and France, Letter Carrier Auxiliary Convention’s, family reunions and just enjoying a quiet life if that was possible with 6 children.
Corinne enjoyed painting, and learning new painting techniques. Corrine was a long-standing member of National Association of Carriers Auxiliary #444; she was active at local and national conventions holding officer positions during her active years.
Corrine is survived by her six children, Marie (Joe-deceased), Barbara (Ed), Deborah (Dan), Kenneth (Linda), Gay Lynn (Chris) and Fred (Susan); 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Ken Anders, her parents, Charles Johnson, Mary Margaret Watson (Suedell), her stepfather Virgil Watson, her twin sister Colleen Johnson, brother Charles Johnson and half-sister Jill Watson.
Corrine was a remarkable woman; she will be dearly missed by her family and friends and is at peace with God.
