Constantinos ""Gus"" Damarelos

November 19, 1934 — May 15, 2015

CONSTANTINOS DAMARELOS, Affectionately known as Gus. Born in Mesopotamia Fthiotidos, Greece on November 19, 1934. He came to the US in 1967 with only a suitcase and his native Greek language, and while he always loved his birthplace, he became a part of his community and considered Capitol Hill in Denver, CO his home. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nikolaos and Panagiota, and siblings Dimitri and Lefteri. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Athena of 49 years, two wonderful children Nick and Yota and his son in-law Stavros, as well as his sister Maria and brother Giorgo. He also leaves behind the two lights of his life, his grandsons, Hristaki and Costa. He was also a father figure to his nieces and nephews. He was a hard-working, driven man who worked many jobs and long hours because he wanted to provide for his family to ensure their success. He was not only a supportive and committed family man, he also created lasting friendships with everyone he met. He was a very spiritual man with a great sense of humor. His favorite pastimes were meeting with his friends in Greek Town, listening to traditional Greek music and being at the Flea Market. He was a humble man and cared about others. There will be a big hole where he once stood in the lives of those who loved him. Gus was the epitome of the American Dream and leaves behind a lasting legacy for all those who knew and loved him.
