Constance “Connie” Ann Pickrell March 1, 1939 – November 26, 2024
Constance “Connie” Ann Pickrell passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024, at the age of 85. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, at Horan and McConaty, 11150 E Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, CO 80014.
Connie was born on March 1, 1939, in Earling, Iowa, to Aloysius Freund and Marie Freund. She was raised in Wiota, Iowa, where she spent her childhood living on her family’s farm. She graduated from high school in Fontanelle, where she met her future husband, Terry Pickrell. Together they raised four children, building a family full of love and adventure.
Throughout their marriage, Connie traveled extensively as her husband was in the military, going from the deserts of Morocco to the beaches of Hawaii, enriching their lives with the cultures and experiences they encountered. These travels were just one of many ways Connie embraced life with enthusiasm.
When the family moved back to the United States and settled in Colorado, Connie wore many hats, working as a secretary while raising her growing children. Later, she went to cosmetology school and channeled her entrepreneurial spirit into owning and operating her own salon. She became known not just for her skill, but for her warmth and personal touch.
Connie had a deep love of books and spent many years collecting and cherishing a personal library that reflected her love of captivating stories and her wide-ranging interests. She was known for her keen sense of humor, boundless kindness, and hospitality to all who crossed her path. Her incomparable cherry pies were legendary, and she had an innate ability to find joy in the simplest moments. Whether telling a joke or offering a shoulder to lean on, Connie always knew how to make those around her feel special.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Duane and Ken, her son Steven Pickrell, and her daughter Cindy Pickrell. She leaves behind her sisters Marlene and Ellen, her brothers Joe and Mic, her sons David and Allen Pickrell, along with her cherished grandchildren Steven and Sarah Hanson, and Katie, Brent, and Shane Pickrell, and her great-grandchild Maddox Pickrell.
Her family and friends will forever miss Connie’s infectious laughter, her unwavering love, and her zest for life. They take comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with those who passed before her, and that she is now at peace with them, embraced in the presence of the Lord.
