Col. David C. Hazard

Col. David C. 'Hap' Hazard, 89, passed away October 14, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital, Denver, CO. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, and father. Born on September 1, 1914 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Emily Chase and Edwin David Hazard. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Kathleen Casey Hazard and their children David (Pam) Pam Hazard, Bruce Hazard, Mary (Bob) Young, Tom Hazard, eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by their daughter, Emily Ann Hazard. David graduated from the University of Nebraska Dental School and practiced briefly in Longmont, Colorado. He then entered the U.S. Army Dental Corps in 1939 and began his Army dental career at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital. He married his bride, Kathleen Casey, on June 24, 1941. He retired from the military in 1972 after 32 years of distinguished military service throughout which he received numerous honors and recognitions. David and Kathleen returned to Colorado after retirement and he worked for Delta Dental Service for two years. He was very active in the Most Precious Blood Parish and served as the first parish administrator for many years. David was active in SERRA Clubs of Denver serving as President of the Denver Chapter and District 6 Governor. He will be remembered for his devotion, generosity, gentleness and understanding. Visitation, 6:30-7:30 pm and Vigil Service, 7:30pm, both Thursday, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd. Funeral Mass, Friday 12pm, Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 2227 S. Colorado Blvd. Interment to follow, Mountain View Cemetery, Longmont.
