Clarence William Brown

Clarence William Brown passed away at his home on September 3, 2014. Clarence was born on March 19, 1922, in Rago, Colorado. He spent much of his youth in Fort Collins, and graduated from Fort Collins High School. He was a musician, and won a national solo contest prior to attending University of Michigan on a music scholarship. World War II intervened, and he was an officer in the Army Air Corp, serving as Navigator on a B-17 and advanced to the rank of Lieutenant. After the war, he graduated from the University of Denver with an accounting major. He married Gail Margaret Farthing on July 29, 1945. He practiced as a Certified Public Accountant until his retirement, and was senior partner in Brown, Whitley, Todd and Young. He and Gail reared four sons, all of whom completed college in science or art. Clarence was active in civic affairs. In his life, he directed choirs at Bonnie Brae Baptist Church, founded the Colorado Woodcarver Club, was president of the Denver Concert Band, was a scoutmaster with Boy Scouts of America, and was active in local politics. He was preceded in death by his sons Kendall and Russell and his wife Gail. He is survived by sons Craig of Seattle and Mark of Denver as well as grandson Russell Tupper-Brown and great-grandson Roman Tupper-Brown, both of Seattle. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 6500 East Girard Avenue, Denver, CO at 10am on Saturday, September 13th. Please share a memory with the family using the guestbook below.
