Born in Pueblo, Colorado to Louise (Ribar) and James Bernard Trainor May 17, 1934, Clare, the loving older sister to Jay Trainor, passed peacefully into Eternal Life October 10th, 2024.
After her family moved to Arvada during the Dust Bowl, she attended Holy Family High School, graduating in 1952. She attended Loretto Heights College, and then University of Colorado, where she received her Bachelor in Fine Arts (with a focus in painting) in 1956, and later, her Master’s in Fine Arts in 1959. While at the University of Colorado she was a proud member of the Chi Omega sorority.
She married John Hogan in 1964. She is survived by her three children—John (Kimberly), Molly (Shane Swanson), and Anne (Gokhan Yarim)—as well as three grandchildren (Ella Hogan, Caroline Hogan and Eric Yarim), four nieces (Lisa Trainor, Kristen Politzer, Holly Shaw and Rachel Trainor) and sister-in-law, Sharon Trainor.
Clare was passionate about art education, and taught at the Toledo (Ohio) Museum of Art, the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois, and Cornell University (Ithaca, New York). She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Golden, Colorado from 1968 until the time of her death. She loved art, reading, the engagement and fellowship of the Fortnightly Book Club, and her wonderful friends whom she met at her local Curves.
Her family would like to express their sincerest thanks to her friend Shirley Klinkefus, stalwart to the last, as well as the caring staff at Golden Pond Assisted Living and Dignity Hospice.
