Clara June Stein

April 20, 1929 — April 17, 2018

Clara June Stein passed away April 17, 2108 in Centennial, Colorado at the age of 88. She was born April 20, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri to Mabel Lehman and Theodore Eckart. June is survived by children Susan Lambert (Wayne), John Stein, and Joseph Stein (Colleen); brother Edward Eckart (Judy); grandchildren Jonathan Hedges, Michael Hedges and David Hedges; and step-grandchildren Adam Lambert, Lisa Lambert, and Eric Lambert. She is preceded in death by her husband John Stein and her sisters Delores Grant, Betty Hartzell, and Lorraine (Marge) Magady. June was a loving wife and dedicated mother. She was married to John for 45 years. She and her young family lived for short times in New Jersey, California, and Pennsylvania before returning to Kansas City, where she remained for almost 50 years. She was an active member of Red Bridge United Methodist Church. A quiet force of nature, June loved the outdoors and will be remembered by many for her dedication to maintaining the family land in the Ozarks, mowing and burning leaves far longer in life than was sensible. She was a prolific painter of watercolors and lover of folk music, and regularly attended fitness classes at the Red Bridge YMCA. A gentle soul, she saw the best in everyone and everything - her sole known enemy was crabgrass, which she pulled religiously, stooped with a stern face. Her shining blue eyes and gentle laugh will be missed by all who knew her. A Graveside Service will be held at Snapp-Beardon Ozarks Memorial Park, in Branson, Missouri. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be sent to in her name to the Dementia Society of America, the YMCA, or the Brain Wellness Fund (brainwellnessfund.org).
