Chuck Hopwood

Chuck Hopwood, a man of strength and skill, passed away on May 4, 2024, Denver, Colorado. Born on October 26, 1945, Chuck's journey was one marked by dedication and valor, traits that defined his very being until the end.

Having graduated from East High School, Denver, Colorado in 1963, Chuck married Paula in March of 1969.  In his youth, Chuck answered the call to serve his country in the United States Navy during the tumultuous times of the Vietnam War. His unwavering bravery in combat earned him the prestigious Purple Heart—a testament to his courage and sacrifice for the greater good.

Beyond his military service, Chuck found fulfillment in the art of construction and plumbing, honing his craft over many years. His hands built not just structures but also relationships within the tight-knit community he called home.

Outside of work, Chuck reveled in the simple joys of life. Whether he was casting a line into a tranquil lake, navigating rugged terrain on a four-wheeler, Jeeping, or loving on his one of his many canine friends over the years, he found solace in nature's embrace. These moments of peace were where he felt most alive.

Chuck is predeceased by Paula Hopwood (wife); Kelli Dee Hopwood (daughter); Dee Hopwood (father); Eve Jean Hopwood (mother), Lynn Hopwood (brother), and Lanny Hopwood (brother).

In this time of mourning, those closest to Chuck find solace in knowing that he touched their lives profoundly. His legacy extends beyond his professional achievements and hobbies. David C. Hopwood, his son; Mark Hopwood (Leslie) and Gary Hopwood, his brothers; Julie Rossi, his niece; DR Hopwood, Tyler Hopwood and Nathan Hopwood, his nephews; Linda Vanderpool, his sister-in-law; and Sylvia Lester, a dear friend and companion—all stand as a testament to the impact Chuck had on those around him.

As friends and family gather to pay their respects at Horan & McConaty Funeral Service for a memorial service honoring Chuck's life, let us celebrate a life lived with purpose and passion. Chuck's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him dearly.
