Christopher John Roll
August 4, 1944 – October 2, 2026
Christopher John Roll passed away peacefully at home on October 2, 2026, at the age of 82, in the presence of Lisa, his loving wife of 36 years. Chris was born on August 4, 1944, to Ellen and Richard Calvin Roll, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Cynthia; his Aunt Jane; and two very special companions, his beloved dog, Lilly, and cat, Charlie, who brought him many years of love and companionship.
Chris enjoyed a long and rewarding career in sales and marketing with Briggs & Stratton. His career gave him the opportunity to travel extensively over the years alongside valued colleagues, many of whom became lifelong friends. Following retirement, Chris made his home in Evergreen, Colorado, where he embraced the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains. He loved hiking, spending time outdoors, and enjoying the peaceful mountain community he called home.
Chris had a generous heart and a genuine desire to give back. Each week, he brought roses to residents of a local retirement home. This simple act of kindness became a meaningful tradition and brought joy to countless people. His dedication was eventually recognized by Denver7, which honored him for his commitment to his community and his weekly gift of roses. Chris was also a passionate and dedicated member of the Evergreen Volunteer Fire Department, proudly giving his time and energy in service to the community he loved.
While Chris had many roles throughout his life, two of his most cherished were being a father and grandfather. To his grandchildren, he was affectionately known as “Goofy Grandpa,” a name that captured the fun, playful spirit and sense of humor they will always remember.
Chris is survived by his wife, Elisabeth (Lisa); his son Jeffrey Michael Roll and his wife, Julie, and their son, Matthew; his son John Bettinger and his wife, Brandee, and their children, John Brody and Lauren Lee; and his daughter Katie Graham and her husband, Greg, and their children, Maddie and Sean. Chris is also survived by his brother, Cal Roll; his sister, Cathy Roll; his niece, Nicole Thompson; and his nephew, Nathan Tholl. Chris leaves behind a legacy of service, generosity, humor, adventure, and kindness. Whether he was traveling during his career, hiking the Colorado mountains, serving his community, delivering roses to brighten someone’s day, or simply making his grandchildren laugh as “Goofy Grandpa,” Chris had a way of leaving an impression on the people around him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, colleagues, and community.
A Celebration of Life honoring Chris will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Horan & McConaty Funeral Service and Cremation, 7577 W. 80th Avenue, Arvada, Colorado 80003. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Chris’s life and the many memories he leaves behind. A reception will follow the service at a private residence. Reception details will be shared with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honor Chris’s memory to make a donation to the Evergreen Fire Department or the American Cancer Society of Colorado.
