Christopher Ray Blood-Smyth

October 11, 1961 — April 20, 2024

Denver, CO

Christopher (Chris) Ray Blood-Smyth, age 62 years, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 20, 2024.   Though our hearts hold deep sadness right now, it also holds the blessings of the love and Christoper’s kindness that will always be a part of us.

Chris was born on October 11, 1961, to Liddon Fitzgerald Blood-Smith and Evelyn May Yost Williams, in Denver, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, David Lee Roy Blood-Smyth.  He is survived by his brother, Kevin Michael Blood-Smyth (Denise), his sister, Evelyn (Evie) Yost Smith (Max) and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He grew up in the Southeast area of Denver.  After graduating from South High School, he remained in the area for most of his adult life. Chris tried several different professions before finding his passion was landscaping. Working with flower gardens and assisting with their design were some of the best times of his life.

Chris was the perfect combination of strength and kindness.
He had the heart of a lion.
He never quit.  He never gave up.
Given what he lived through, this is saying something.
Chris was an old soul, and wise in the ways of life and the streets.
His honor and respect for our parents taught us so much.
The way he stepped up for Mom was inspiring.

Chris was smart. He had an intuitive sense of how the world worked on the streets. He could pick out a problem from a mile away. He knew how to stay safe, and he knew how to have fun.
Chris was hard on life and life was hard on him.
We would talk about our life’s journey as adults and the more we listened, the more inspired we were by all he overcame.
He marched to his own beat.
Chris’s taste was so distinct, whether art, music or clothes.

He gave us hope in knowing, no matter what, we can always find a way.
And we know Chris is no longer in pain, watching over us as he always did.
But we miss him…and always will.

Chris will be honored with a private family service.

Chris loved animals and especially his two cats, Odie and Cassie. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in his memory to: Cat Care Society, 5787 W. 6th Ave., Lakewood, CO 80214.  Chris’s cats were feral kittens rescued from a farm in Colorado.  Cat Care Society also assisted with homes for many other feral kittens found on the same farm years
