Chet Albert Nelson, Jr.

Chester Albert Nelson, Jr., passed away on March 27, 2024, in Littleton, Colorado. He was 95 years old.
Chet was born in McCook, Nebraska on May 13, 1928. His family moved to Denver when he was a young boy. He was a graduate of South High School in Denver. He then enlisted in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1948. He then returned to Denver and went on to earn his Civil Engineering degree from Denver University. After graduation, he resumed work with Bureau of Reclamation before retiring with 40 years’ Federal Service. While attending DU, he met and subsequentially married Bettie Cervene. They were married for 64 years and had 3 children, Rick, Scott and Tamara.
After retiring in 1984, they spent many years traveling the world. Chet was a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary for 40 years and enjoyed all things boating. He owned a houseboat on Lake Powel and enjoyed taking his family there every summer.
Chet took pleasure in spending time with his 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will take place at Horan & McConaty in Centennial on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 10:30am. A reception will follow.
