Charlotte "Chuckie" Wilking

October 6, 1936 — June 22, 2024

Parker, Colorado

Charlotte “Chuckie” Rae Lassell Wilking, age 87, of Parker, Colorado passed on June 22, 2024, at the Parker Adventist Hospital.

Chuckie was born on October 6, 1936, in St. Paul, Minnesota to Wesley and Marlys Lassell. Her family moved to Renville then Wegdahl and Montevideo. Chuckie was confirmed on April 8, 1951. She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1954.

She was married to Darrell Spletter on October 10, 1954. Together they worked the family farm, raised 5 children: her 3 daughters Lori, Sherry, Tammy and 2 sons Scott and Terry. She was extremely hard-working and dedicated to raising their 5 children. Chuckie married Clarence Wilking on December 20, 1985. She had many careers from being a teacher’s assistant, running Weis Jewelry Store, bookkeeper for Dr. Zenk in Montevideo and Dr. Marcus in Willmar. She worked several retail jobs and was a cashier at Coborn’s Grocery in Sauk Centre.

If you were lucky enough to meet and know Chuckie, she would share her infectious smile and zest for life with you. You were a better person for knowing her. Chuckie’s friends describe her with words like, heart of gold, truly amazing woman, loving, sweetest lady ever, kind, caring, wonderful sense of humor, a great baker, a special woman, a wonderful friend, spunky, sassy, talented, funny, friendly, sparkly, she was the best, totally amazing woman, loving, inspiring, feisty, fun to be with, so very special, awesome, fun to work with, graceful, classy lady, and on and on.

Chuckie enjoyed horses and made sure her daughters were at every horse show and rodeo possible. She was the most amazing baker, cook and canner. She tried passing this on to her three daughters but Tammy was the only one in the house while Sherry and Lori were in the horse barn. Chuckie loved living on the lake and having the family and grandchildren at the lake and the BBQs with her and celebrating the holidays. She loved flowers and gardening so much so that she worked with silks and created some of the most stunningly beautiful wreaths for family, friends and her church. She made these beautiful wreaths for every season and holiday. Hobby Lobby was her “mother ship”. She also loved to shop!

Chuckie is survived by her daughters Lori, Sherry, Tammy and son Terry. Eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Chuckie is preceded in death by her father Wesley, mother Marlys, sister Nancy, husband Clarence, and son, Scott.
