October 26, 1935 — January 5, 2024

Charles "Chuck" F. Nidey Jr., 88, of Arvada, CO, passed away at home on January 5, 2024.

He was born in Pueblo, CO, on October 26, 1935. Chuck graduated from North High School in Denver, CO in 1953. He then attended the University of Denver until 1955 when he enlisted in the United States Army. He served in the Army until 1957. After leaving the Army he married his wife, Patricia "Pat" J. Tapparo on November 24, 1957.

During high school, Chuck was involved in the ROTC program which led to his military career. After leaving the military he became a Denver Police Officer from September of 1961 until August of1989. During this time he was very proud to graduate from the Ken Hoffman Flight School that certified the first Official Pilots for the Denver Police Department Helicopter Unit. This then led him to being able to fly one of the first Denver Police Helicopters. In 1989, he retired from the Police Department and became a dispatcher for the City and County of Denver until retiring in 1998. Although he was busy protecting the community, Chuck always enjoyed being involved in The Free Masons and The Shriners Organizations.

Chuck always had the desire to travel, especially on cruise ships, which Pat and he did frequently. His favorite destinations were Mexico and the Panama Canal.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Pat; as well as his children, Lisa (Denis) Rule of Arvada CO, and Linda (Dave) Henry of Raleigh, NC; by his six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Mass will be held at Spirit of Christ Catholic Church in Arvada on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 11am with a reception to follow. Chuck will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery in a private ceremony at a later date.
