Pastor Charles K. Kinyon

The family announces the passing of Charles K. Kinyon, who entered his heavenly home on August 31, 2026, in Thornton, Colorado. He was born on July 26, 1939, in Greensburg, Kansas.

Charles loved Jesus and was a devoted servant of the Lord. He preached in Hamburg, New Jersey; Flagler, Colorado; Glenrock, Wyoming; Canon City, Colorado; Fort Lupton, Colorado; and Denver, Colorado. He also served as a Hospice chaplain, offering comfort, compassion, and spiritual support to those in need. Through his ministry, chaplaincy, teaching, and friendships, he influenced countless lives. Wherever Charles was, he made sure someone felt loved and knew they were special.

Charles attended colleges at Sterling, Kansas, Kansas State University, and Princeton University. He taught English, speech and debate, inspiring generations of students with his knowledge, humor, and encouragement.

Charles believed deeply in the importance of community. He served on the recreation center board and the school board, giving his time and energy to help strengthen the communities he loved.

He married the love of his life, Glenda, and they shared 49 wonderful years together. Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Glenda; his three children, John and Angy, Mary and Ray, and Becky and Travis; his five grandchildren, Lanie, Collin, Sal, Bella, and Dash; and his sister, Cindy and Darrel. He loved being involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren and treasured the time he spent with them.

Charles had a gift for bringing joy to those around him. He coached soccer, even though he freely admitted he had no idea what he was doing. He enjoyed hiking, visiting the family cabin, reading, sweets, and a good holiday decoration. He was fun, witty, and truly a character, to say the least. His humor, warmth, and unmistakable personality made him unforgettable to all who knew him.

Charles will be remembered for his deep faith, his love for Glenda and his family, the many lives he influenced, and the countless shared moments that brought happiness to those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the bonds he created and the memories he left behind will endure. His life and legacy will continue to be a source of comfort and inspiration for all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, starting at 1 pm at Horan & McConaty Funeral Service and Cremation – North Metro/Thornton 9998 Grant Street Thornton, CO 80229
