Charles J. Kemerling

Charles J. “Chuck” Kemerling of Highlands Ranch, Colorado passed away at The Center at Lincoln in Parker, CO on April 4, 2018 at the age of 85. A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 11:00 am at Cherry Hills Community Church Chapel located at 3900 Grace Boulevard in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 am. Burial services will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 12:15 pm at Fort Logan Cemetery located at 4400 West Kenyon Avenue in Denver, CO. Chuck was born on May 19, 1932 in Luverne, Minnesota to Charles and Elizabeth Kemerling and he married Lois Knutson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD in 1958. He is survived by his wife Lois and their children Jim, Julie, Linda and Karen. They have six grandchildren: April, Greg, Lindsey, Nicole, Jordan and Hayden as well as one great grandchild, Harper. For 31 years, he honorably served in the Navy during the Korean War, as well as the Navy Reserve and Army National Guard. He was also employed at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and was an engineer at AT&T. Throughout his career he and his wife Lois lived in Sioux Falls, SD, Rapid City, SD, Minneapolis, MN and Chicago, IL, before moving to the Denver area in 1988. He was very active in Kiwanis and Sertoma within the community. Chuck enjoyed watching the Broncos and the Rockies sports teams. He was also an avid runner, completing several marathons and setting a record for his age group at the Bolder Boulder. We will always remember his devotion to our family and his willingness to always help others. The family requests that memorials be addressed to the American Cancer Society.
