Charles "Chuck" Wingard

Detective Charles “Chuck” Wingard passed away at his home after a long fight with cancer. Chuck is survived by his loving wife Yvonne, daughter Tiffany (Cheyenne Hopkins), son Matthew, his siblings Wilber, Jeffrey, Michelle, and Disrine Bedgood, his father-in-law Jimmy Bennett, his sister-in-law Yvette Bennett, and brother-in-law Lee Bennett. Chuck is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and his For His Glory Church family.

Chuck grew up on Long Island, New York. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he served eleven years. During his military duty Chuck received numerous honors and commendations. It was while serving at Minot Air Force Base that he met the love of his life, Yvonne Bennett. The couple were married and settled in Denver. Following his service in the Air Force, Chuck joined the Denver Police Department where he served for twenty-seven years, rising through the ranks to the position of Detective. While on the job Chuck received numerous letters of commendation as well as the first and only career lifetime achievement award from the Colorado Drug Investigators Association recognizing his dedicated service.

Chuck is affectionately remembered by his family, friends, and co-workers as a patient, kind, loving, generous, protective, humble, tenacious, strong, loyal, giving, and a listener.

On Sunday, August 23, from 4 to 8 PM, visitation will take place at Horan & McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue (at Parker Road). On Monday, August 24, visitation will be at 10 AM and a Celebration of Life will follow at 11 AM at One Hope Church, 5301 S. Federal Circle, Littleton. Interment will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery. A reception at the church will follow the interment. Honors will be provided by the Denver Police Department, the United States Air Force, and the All Veterans Honor Guard.
