In Loving Memory of Charlene "Char" Elizabeth Butler (Eppich)

Charlene "Char" Elizabeth Butler, born on October 11, 1925, in Denver, Colorado, to Kenneth and Florence Eppich, peacefully passed away on January 25, 2024, at the age of 98. Charlene was the cherished sister of Lois Fahey (Tom, both deceased), and a brief-lived brother named Walter. She attended Saint Philomena's Catholic School and Cathedral High School, both in Denver, forming the foundations of her strong character and nurturing spirit.

Char was a vibrant soul, known for her zest for life and close connections with family, especially her cousin Shirley Weiss. Together, they embarked on countless remarkable adventures in Victor, Colorado, alongside their beloved Aunt Agnes "Aggie."

Graduating from Denver University with a teaching degree, Charlene worked diligently in a crackling factory making pork rinds to fund her education. She often humorously recalled the greasy jeans that could stand on their own. On June 30, 1952, she married the love of her life, Wesley Dean Butler.

Char's adventurous spirit led her to enjoy camping, swimming, horseback riding, and the joy of meeting new people. She and Wesley moved multiple times, and Char embraced each new location, challenging herself to forge lasting friendships. The union of Wes and Char blessed them with four children: the late Sherri Lee Chappell, Bradley Alan Butler (Margaret), Jeanine Marie Maxey (Carl), and Wesley Joseph Butler (Maureen).

Grandchildren, Jason Chappell (Blythe, Deceased), Danielle Preissing (Tom), Michael Chappell (Lauren), Barbara Butler, Kenneth Butler (Shay), Ann Butler, Joseph "Max" Maxey, Patrick Butler, and great-grandchildren Ellis, Quinn, Marlow, Harper, Jack, Logan, Wiley, Sam, Ivy, and soon-to-be Lainey, brought immense joy to Char's life.

Charlene dedicated two years to teaching first grade at Harrington Grade School in Denver, a profession she loved dearly. However, her true calling was raising her children, a role she embraced with love and devotion. Wesley Dean Butler, her partner in life, passed away on September 9, 2009, leaving a void that Char continued to fill with love and resilience.

In her later years, Charlene forged new friendships and embarked on delightful trips, including memorable journeys to San Diego and Nisswa, Minnesota, with her daughter Jeanine.

A visitation and rosary will be held on Wednesday, January 31st, from 4pm to 6pm at the Horan and McConaty Funeral Home (3020 North Federal Boulevard in Denver, CO). A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at the Gardens of Saint Elizabeth (2835 W. 32nd Ave, Denver) on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 1 pm, followed by a small social gathering. Interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery (3698 S. Sheridan Blvd) will take place on Friday, February 2nd, 2024.

Charlene "Char" Elizabeth Butler will be dearly missed but forever remembered for her warmth, laughter, and the love she shared with all those fortunate enough to know her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
