Celesta Rose Mullen

Celesta Rose Mullen, 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, in Denver, Colorado. She was born on September 28, 1946, in Minot, North Dakota, to the late Patricia and Lawrence Schmidt. Celesta was a woman known for her warmth, wit, and unwavering devotion to her family. She had a sharp sense of humor and a love of practical jokes, often bringing laughter and lightness to those around her. Her happiest moments were spent with family, especially during the holidays, when she delighted in games, puzzles, and the simple joy of being together.

A lifelong Catholic, Celesta was active in several Catholic communities over the years, finding deep meaning in her faith and service. She brought that same spirit of care and generosity to her everyday life.

Celesta earned an associate's degree from the University of Minot and worked for many years as an administrative professional at Rangely District Hospital. Her dedication, reliability, and kindness left a lasting impression on her colleagues and patients alike.

Celesta is survived by her loving husband, Henry Kiang; her sons Michael L. Mullen (and his spouse Gretchen), and Kevin C. Mullen (and his spouse Jenny); her grandchildren Kaylee Mullen, Delaney Mullen, Emilee Mullen, Brendan Mullen, and Lars Mullen; and her sisters Patricia Schmidt, Jane Torgerson, and Judy Guttman.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert C. Mullen; her sons Charles P. Mullen and Robert B. Mullen; her daughter-in-law Debra L. Mullen; her granddaughter Bryanna M. Mullen; her parents Patricia and Lawrence Schmidt; and her siblings Lawrence Schmidt, Cecil Schmidt, and Veronica Schmidt.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 3rd from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Horan & McConaty. A funeral mass will follow on Monday, August 4th at 11:00 a.m. at Spirit of Christ Catholic Church.

Celesta will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
