Cathy Maglione, a brilliant woman known for her thoughtful kindness and generous spirit, passed away peacefully in Arvada, Colorado in May 2025. She was 63. Her life was one marked by witty intellect, quiet strength, and a profound love for her family.
Born in 1961 and raised in Colorado by Earl and Doris Chandler, Cathy grew up in a loving home that celebrated art, theater, music, and the joys of travel. As the middle child among three siblings, Cathy developed a quiet independence and wisdom beyond her years. On the many family trips that shaped her early life, she often struck up conversations with fellow travelers and carved out her own meaningful experiences. Her passion for travel and discovering new people and places stayed with her always.
Cathy achieved success in nearly every endeavor, building a distinguished career that allowed her to retire at a young age. Even after retirement, she continued working on her own terms as a consultant - valued for her intellect, insight, and calm leadership.
A woman of deep faith, Cathy was a steady and nurturing presence for those around her. Before his untimely passing, Cathy cared selflessly for her husband, Richard Maglione. She met him in her early 20's and throughout the years they shared a deep bond and many joyful adventures. Cathy remained devoted to him always, carrying his memory with grace, compassion, and enduring love. She also cared for her parents, her sister Carrie, and others as they faced health challenges—always with the same strength and selflessness that defined her life. She gave generously and joyfully, frequently surprising loved ones with thoughtful, personal gifts and experiences that showed just how deeply she paid attention and how much she cared.
She was an avid reader, a lover of theater and live music, and an enthusiastic world traveler who always wanted to share these joys freely with family and friends. Whether planning a family cruise, recommending a favorite novel, or treating a loved one to a new hit show, Cathy infused life with wonder and warmth.
Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Doris Chandler; her beloved husband, Richard; her sister, Carrie; and her nephew, Adam. She is survived by her brother, David; her stepdaughter, Heather and her husband, Michael, her stepdaughter, Darcy, and a circle of dear friends and former colleagues who will miss her deeply.
Her life will be celebrated in a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Cathy’s memory by supporting Angels With Paws, https://angelswithpaws.net/ or the Wounded Warrior Project https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/ or by surprising someone you love with an act of kindness - just as she so often did.
Cathy’s life was a testament to the power of intellect, kindness, and astounding generosity. She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
