Catherine Gonzales-Maestas

Catherine L. Gonzales-Maestas, age 68, born on June 12, 1952. She died in her home in Commerce City on May 3, 2021.

She completed her high school education and graduated from North High School in Denver in 1970. She was proud to be a Viking. Catherine provided over thirty years of daycare service for numerous friends and family. In this role she became known as “grandma” to many of the children she helped raise. Catherine had a total of 14 brothers and sisters. The way she radiated her love, she had the ability to make everyone she came into contact with feel like family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Helen and Louis Ferguson, and her siblings David, Carol, Dennis, and Andy. She was survived by her husband Michael Maestas, her son Leon Lopez (Maria), her son Mario Gonzales, her daughter Amanda Lopez, her grandchildren Zelicia Lopez, Eric Lopez, Andrew Rangel, James Rangel, Elisya Lopez, Jacob Lopez, Leon Lopez Jr., and her great-grandchildren Ava Rodriquez, Mathias Reyes-Lopez and (arriving soon) Atlas Lopez. She is also survived by several of her siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A Visitation and Rosary will take place at  Horan & McConaty 9998 Grant St. Thornton, CO 80229 on Thursday May 13, 2021. Viewing hours will be between 5pm and 7pm, followed directly by the Rosary. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 9:00am.

A Celebration of Catherine’s Life will be held at 12506 Kearney Cir Thornton, CO 80602 on Saturday, May 15, 2021 starting at 2pm.
