Catherine ""Cathie"" Mary Glaser

December 8, 1941 — May 16, 2015

Catherine ""Cathie"" Mary Glaser (nee Connor) passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16 with her beloved Husband and soul mate of 53 years, Michael (Mike) L. Glaser, at her side after an 18 month fight against lung cancer. Cathie was born in San Francisco, California on December 8, 1941 to Edwin Lyne Connor and Catherine Mary Foley. The family moved to Los Angeles in 1942. When Cathie was 9, the family moved to Washington, D.C. Beside her Husband, Cathie is survived by her loving children Michael L. Glaser, Jr., Casey L. (Marty) Trevino, Shannon M. (Craig) Thiesenhusen, Timothy E. (Cyndi) Glaser, Regan M. Glaser, and her beautiful grandchildren, Ryan and Shain Glaser and Savannah and Cole Thiesenhusen. Cathie grew up in Washington, D.C. and graduated from Blessed Sacrament School and the Academy of the Holy Cross. She attended Marjorie Webster College and Montgomery College. Cathie was a model in her younger and teen years. Cathie first began modeling for a children's clothing designer in Los Angeles. After her family moved to Washington, D.C., Cathie continued her modeling career through high school and while attending Marjorie Webster College. She modeled for Seventeen Magazine and Lansburgh's Department Store, then a major retailer in the Washington, D. C. metropolitan area. Cathie made history as the very first walking Christmas Tree model when she was chosen by Lansburgh's in 1956 for that role. She walked the floors of Lansburgh's in a gown covered with Christmas ornaments greeting Christmas shoppers, a modeling position she held through the 1957 Christmas season. When Cathie and Mike lived in Maryland, Cathie was also a volunteer in the surgical ward at suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland and at St. Francis School (now Ivy Mount), in Potomac, Maryland, a school for children with learning disabilities. Cathie and Mike and children moved to Denver in 1983, where Cathie continued to be a homemaker as well as becoming active in her church. Cathie was a member in the Martha's, a volunteer women's group that served food to needy families when she was a member of Ava Maria Catholic Church in Parker, Colorado. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 2250 S. Harrison St., Denver, CO 80210 on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the Glaser family requests that donations be made in Cathie's name to Little Sisters of the Poor, 3629 W. 29th Ave., Denver, CO 80211 or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38165.
