Carolyn ""Cally"" Coleman Vickers

December 3, 1929 — September 19, 2014

Carolyn Coleman ""Cally"" Vickers, 84, a resident of Castle Rock, CO passed away peacefully on Friday Sept 19, 2014 at her home In Indian Wells, CA. With her was her husband of 37 years, Jack Vickers. Cally and Jack, longtime residents of Colorado, spent a portion of their winter months each year at their home in Indian Wells, CA. Due to age-related difficulties, Cally was unable to return to Colorado this summer before her passing. Cally was born in Wichita, KS to Georgia and Sheldon Coleman on December 3, 1929. She was the second of two daughters. Her father, Sheldon Coleman, was a great outdoorsman, known best for his development of the Coleman Company and its line of camping products. Cally spent much of her youth in the outdoors - camping, fishing, hunting, and testing the very products that the Coleman Company sold. In 1949, at the age of 19, in her hometown of Wichita, she met and married Ralph Cooper ""Bill"" Rounds, of Rounds & Porter Lumber Co. who later became the co-founder of Breckenridge Ski Area. To this day, one of the ski runs is still named after her (Callie's Alley). Bill and Cally were married for 20 years and had three children early on - Becky, Bobby, and Cooper. She was a devoted mother, loved her Junior League activities, and passed down the tradition of spending time in the great outdoors with family and friends. Over time, and with her family, she became an avid golfer, snow skier, tennis player, and traveler. She loved playing Bridge, a game through which she developed many life-long friendships. She was very involved in the Wichita community and a wonderful hostess at her many social gatherings and dinner parties for friends. She was a friend to all. In the early 1970s after her divorce, Cally became very involved in the Christian community, in her faith, and in charitable giving. These remained some of her strongest passions for the remainder of her life. With her children grown and on their own, in 1976, she married Jack Vickers and moved from Wichita to Denver, CO. Since then, she has played an important part in Jack's life, his many endeavors, and his involvement in the Castle Pines Golf Club in Castle Rock, CO. During the years The International golf tournament was played at Castle Pines (1986 – 2006), she and Jack hosted numerous events at their home for tournament sponsors and players. Cally was comfortable talking to people from all walks of life. Her grace, her kindness, her beauty, and her indomitable spirit were an inspiration to all of those who knew her. She had impeccable style, a strong interest in others, and a remarkable desire to make the very best of each moment. In her words, it was all about ""dancing on her toes"". Few people celebrated life as she did. Cally is survived by her husband, Jack, her three children, Becky (Doug) Neuman of Ashland, OR, Bobby Rounds of Los Angeles, CA, Cooper Rounds of Austin, TX, her sister Virginia Coleman of Wichita, KS, her half-brother Sheldon (Kathy) Coleman of Indian Wells, CA, her cousin, Nanita (Warren) Morin of Auburn, IN, her cousin, John (Carol) Grimes of Wickenburg, AZ, her grandchildren Alex Neuman, Carolyne Neuman, J.
