Carolyn A. McKinney

Nov. 22, 1944 – Aug. 25, 2026

Carolyn completed the journey set forth for her on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, surrounded by family.

Carolyn was born in Highlands, North Carolina to Charles and Gertrude (Trudy) McKinney. She spent most of her life calling Virginia and Colorado home, finally settling in Colorado.

She followed in her father’s footsteps by working in the Federal government, where she eventually retired. She took great pride in working at the Pentagon.

She loved her family more than anything. Family was everything to her.

She loved the beach, and Ocean City was her happy place. She also loved her chicken-n-dumplings from Cracker Barrel, always with two extra sides of dumplings.

She loved everyone in her own way.

She was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandma, great-grandma, mother-in-law, and aunt.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charles, and Gertrude (Trudy) McKinney.

She is survived by her son, Darrell Harrod and wife Carissa; daughter, Shannon Crawford and husband Ron; sister, Linda Classen; niece, Suzie Classen and husband Randall; great-niece Twila Classen; six grandchildren, Charles Harrod and wife Samantha, Dallas Yatsko and husband Richie, Samantha Harrod, Collin Harrod, Taylor Harrod, and Cody Crawford; and seven great-grandchildren, Christian Harrod, Lorraine Harrod, Charlie Harrod, MaKenna Smith, Myles Yatsko, Maddaline Yatsko, and Magnolia Yatsko.

We love you, and you will be extremely missed.
