Carolyn Lawson

On November 7, 2022, Carolyn Michiye Lawson passed away peacefully in her home in Arvada, CO at the age of 78, with her family by her side.

Born in Denver, CO on March 2, 1944, to Iwao and Kikuye Nishikawa, Carolyn grew up in the suburbs of Denver and attended Denver West High School where she participated in the PEP Club, served as the treasure for the National Honor Society and was Captain of the Rifle Team.  After high school she attended the University of Colorado, Boulder with a focus on pre-pharmacy. Following two years in college, she chose to spread her wings and enter the up-and-coming airline industry where she would become a reservations and ticket agent at Frontier Airlines. At Frontier is where she would meet and marry her husband of 55 years, Robert Lawson, and would go on to raise two children, Richard Lawson and Rhonda Olson, have five grandchildren, Seth, Adam, Sierra, Akira and Alyssa, and would welcome in-laws Audra Lawson and Pernell Olson to the family.

An avid sports, games and travel enthusiast, Carolyn loved watching every activity her grandkids participated in from basketball to soccer to dance to pageants. She never missed a game or a performance if it were up to her.  She was each person’s personal #1 fan.

If she wasn’t watching grandkids on the weekends or spending time with family at the cabin, you’d find Carolyn shopping, gambling, crafting, playing cards with friends and capturing every Bronco, Avs or Nuggets game. Staying up late to watch overtime hockey or basketball wasn’t uncommon.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, two children, 5 grandchildren and brother, Barry Nishikawa. She was predeceased in death by her parents.
