Carolyn Jones

On the morning of November 7, 2016, Carolyn passed away at her home of natural causes at the age of 49 years old. Carolyn Sue Jones was born in the town of Centreville, Mississippi, on October 16, 1967. She was the second child of Thelma and Walter Jones. Carolyn went on to attend Franklin County High School in Meadville, Mississippi, where she graduated in 1985. She earned her Associates Degree from Copiah-Lincoln Junior College in Wesson, Mississippi in 1987. Carolyn became the assistant secretary for the Union Baptist Church in Perrytown, Mississippi from 1988-1998. She then moved to Denver, Colorado to pursue a career in Court Reporting. During this time she met Kevin Meza her partner of 17 years. They had one child together Eric Meza. She earned an Associate of Applied Science in Court Reporting in Denver, CO in 2004. While continuing her career in Court Reporting she earned her Certificate in Paralegal from Arapahoe Community College in Littleton, CO in 2011. She worked as a Legal Assistant and Paralegal until her passing. Carolyn loved her family, friends and especially LSU football. She enjoyed watching movies, watching and attending sporting events, reading, traveling, cooking and baking. She liked trying new things such as trying new foods, new places, skiing, tubing and even roller coasters. She loved talking to her sisters and her mother. She especially loved being a mom/soccer mom. What she truly loved the most was spending time with her son Eric, who she was extremely proud of the young man he had become. Carolyn attended Colorado Community Church and volunteered for the annual Christmas store. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 11 years old. Carolyn was preceded in death by a brother George and a sister Joyce Jones and her grandparents Roosevelt and Josephine Lushaw and William H. and Lula Jones. Carolyn is survived by Thelma and Walter Jones, Roxie, MS; Kevin Meza, Denver, CO; Eric Meza, Denver, CO; Abby Page, Lena, MS; Cindy (Demetrius) Pogue, Houston, TX; Shnae (Vandrealun) Durrell, RAF Mildenhall, England; Rev. Dr. Maxine (David) Madison, Houston, TX, and her close extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. There will be a viewing at Horan & McConaty on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The service will be held at Colorado Community Church on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. with the procession to the cemetery to immediately follow. Carolyn's final resting spot will be Fairmount Cemetery in Denver, CO. The family wishes to thank the many friends who have helped the family during this very difficult time. Thank you!!
