Celebrating the Life of Carole Ann Hotz
Carole, 85, of Denver, CO, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. A positive and optimistic person, she lived a life marked by love of family, perseverance, laughter and joy, and games played. She never judged anyone and accepted everyone for who they were.
Carole grew up in Omaha, NE and attended Duchesne College and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She married Denis Grote, and they started a family in Omaha. They moved to Denver, Colorado and grew their family on the way. While in Denver, Carole had several jobs, including teaching, real estate sales where she was a top salesperson, and counseling. Her most fulfilling job was raising her children. Carole was always grateful.
In her latter years, she was married to Michael Hotz. These two loved to travel and enjoyed time with friends with whom they played several games—especially Hand and Foot. Their travels included Europe, Australia and Africa.
Summarizing anyone’s life is very challenging, but a telling trait about Carole is that all of her children and grandchildren felt as if they were her favorite. Regardless of her health concerns or life’s circumstance, she always attended every important event for everyone. Birthdays were especially important to her. In fact, she knew the birthdates of all of her children, their spouses, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren.
Carole is survived by her husband, Michael Hotz, and the following:
Carole’s Children and Spouses: Gregory Grote and Beth Michieli-Grote; Christine and Andy Connolly; Robert Grote and Rosie Adams-Grote; Diane and Michael Watson; Daniel and Tisha Grote; Michele and Paul Tice.
