Carol D. Gaumond

Carol D. Gaumond, of Louisville, Colorado passed away in the early hours of the morning on September 25, 2018. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on September 9, 1950. Carol was the Valedictorian of her High School Class at Meritt Hutton High School class of 1968. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from University of Northern Colorado and went on to complete nursing school at Walter Reed in Washington, D.C. She had a brief but distinguished military career as an Army nurse culminating in the rank of Captain. Later Carol completed graduate degrees in Business Administration and Adult Christian Community Development and Counseling. Carol retired from her career position as Director of Family Life at the Archdiocese of Denver in 1993. She worked for many years doing the accounting for Twinstar Incorporated which she co-owned with Steve, Gwendolyn and Gail. She also continued multiple volunteer positions centered around her Catholic spiritual affiliations and touched many lives.

One of her most cherished roles was Grandmother to her five grandchildren who she helped to raise and whom she always made feel supported, important and proud. Left to treasure a legacy of love, empowerment and spirituality are her husband of 43 years, Stephen T. Gaumond; children, Gwendolyn Gaumond, Brian Martella, Gail Gaumond Pyle, Jason Pyle; grandchildren, Kael and Klara Martella, Audrina Pyle, Logan Gaumond Ashcroft, and Sam Pyle; sister, Deborah Augenstein; brothers, David and Daniel Augenstein; and multiple well-loved nieces, nephews and extended family members who she was very close to.

Funeral Mass will be held Sunday, September 30, 11:00am at Horan McConaty at 9998 Grant St., Thornton, CO 80229 with reception to follow at same location. Carol will be buried with military honors at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, privately with family present.
