Our precious mother, Carmen R. Serrano, peacefully passed away at home on Monday, December 30, 2024. Carmen Serrano was born in Blue Earth, Minnesota on July 16, 1933, to Telesforo and Tiburcia Ortega. She was a member of Saint Thomas More Catholic Church, The Legion of Mary, and was a Third Order Lay Carmelite. Carmen was best known for her strong devotion to her faith and the selfless dedication of volunteering her time to the church. She lived a life filled with love, kindness, and cherished moments that we will carry forward in our hearts.
In 1957, Carmen married Vincente Zendejas Serrano in Topeka, KS. He passed away March 16, 2024. She is survived by their children, Anna Marie (Mark) Miller, Raymond Scott Serrano, Vincent Martin Serrano, Magdalen Carmen (Wayne) Gilpin, and Christina Paula Serrano, two grandchildren Christopher (Brittany) Miller, Leanna Miller and two great-grandchildren Nathaniel Miller and Skylar Miller. She is also survived by her brother, Louis (Florence) Ortega along with many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Joseph, Raymond, and Andrew Ortega; her sisters, Marie Rodriguez, Juanita Solis, Francis Vieyra and Mildred Gomez; along with two great-grandchildren Devon Rodriguez and Orion Miller, who both died in early childhood.
Memorial contributions may be made in Carmen's memory to Carmel of the Holy Spirit in care of Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 5303 E County Line Rd, Centennial, Co 80122.
