Carmen Aragon passed away peacefully at her home in Denver on June 1, 2026. Carmen met the love of her life, Leonard Aragon, in Chicago, IL and they were married on July 17, 1953. They settled in Denver, CO where they raised their family of five children. Their home became the heart of many cherished gatherings with family and friends. Carmen took immense pride in her family and faith. Although she worked occasional jobs over the years, her primary focus was caring for her home, her husband, and her children. Carmen was also blessed with many dear friends who she treasured throughout her life.

Carmen was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Juan and Jovita Cuellar, her younger sister Norma, her husband Leonard, and her son-in-law Dennis Severson. Their memories remain a testament to the legacy of love and strength that Carmen upheld throughout her life.

She is survived by her sister Velia Rubio, and her five children: John and his wife Charlotte, Laura Aden and her husband Doug, Vivian Severson, Leonard and his wife Maria, Cynthia Grubbs and her husband Mark. Her surviving 12 grandchildren are Joseph, Michael, Brandon, Tyler, Rebecca, Rhiannon, Kelli, Brian, Chris, Leonard, Mark and Jennifer. Her surviving 15 great-grandchildren are Jenesis, Ezequiel, Aidan, Eli, Kris, Savanna, Evelyn, Maya, Tyler, Grayson, Chloe, Conner, Bo, Sophia, and Arlo. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.

The celebration for Carmen’s life will begin with a Rosary at 6:30 PM on June 25, 2026, at the Horan & McConaty Funeral Service and Cremation located at 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, CO. This will be followed by a visitation from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the same location.

On Friday, June 26, 2026, an additional visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, at 2361 East 78th Avenue in Denver. A Funeral Mass to honor Carmen’s memory will begin at 10:00 AM in the church. Reception to follow, location TBD.
