Arvada

Camilla B. Williams, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, in Arvada, Colorado, at the age of 94.

Camilla was born on March 23, 1931, in Elsberry, Missouri, to Sadie and Francis McCluer. She grew up on a farm and attended school in Elsberry, where her father served first as a teacher and later as principal. Her early years were filled with a love of the outdoors, a deep appreciation for nature, and the values of hard work and family. As a young girl, she moved to the small town of Cottleville, Missouri, where she continued her education and nurtured her artistic talents.

Camilla graduated from Lindenwood University with a B.A. in Fine Arts and a minor in English and Education. She went on to pursue a fulfilling career in teaching, beginning in Clinton, Missouri. Her passion for art continued throughout her life—she painted, attended art shows, and supported the arts in her community.

In addition to her teaching and artistic pursuits, Camilla was an active member of the Wheat Ridge Art League and the Ports of Call Club for many years. Through these organizations, she formed lasting friendships, engaged in meaningful community service, and continued her lifelong love of learning and connection.

She was known for hosting warm, memorable family gatherings, especially during the holidays. Her home was always a place of laughter, good food, and the love of generations.

Camilla was preceded in death by her beloved husband Max “Mike” Williams; her daughter Lisa Edwards; stepson Douglas Edwards; her parents, Sadie and Francis McCluer; and her sister, Lucy McCluer.

She is survived by her daughter Crystal Messmore and son-in-law Mark Messmore; stepdaughters Berta Edwards and Michele Rosebrook; six grandchildren—Jessica, Marisa, Ashley, Alysha, Amber, and Alyssa; three step-grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Her legacy of love, creativity, and dedication to family and community lives on through them.

A service to celebrate Camilla’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Arvada United Methodist Church, 6750 Carr Street, Arvada, Colorado 80004.
