C. Frederick Schwaner, (Fred) age 78, born Oct 3, 1937 in Hartford City, IN., was a resident of Albuquerque since 1964 passed away suddenly on July 27, 2016 in Frisco, CO doing what he loved, fly fishing. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Gladys and Clyde Schwaner. Fred is survived by his loving wife Margaret of Albuquerque, his 5 sons and their spouses, Eric and Shari, Mark and Melanie, Jeff and Marie, Brian and Debbie, all of Albuquerque and Brad and Jill of Peoria, AZ and his daughter Suzie and her husband John, of Thornton, Co. His 12 grandchildren, Jenna Chavez (Barry) of Lacey, WA, Mitchell Schwaner, of Albuquerque, Lauren Schwaner of Dallas, TX., J.P. Durnford of Thornton, CO., Stephen Schwaner(Sarah) of Atlanta, Ga., Madi Schwaner of Albuquerque, Margaret Durnford of Thornton, Co., Kelsey McAlister (Josh) of Tempe, Az., Emily Schwaner, Annie Schwaner, Erika Schwaner all of Albuquerque, Clay and Jansen Schwaner of Peoria, Az., Ryan Schwaner of Albuquerque, and Darby Schwaner of Peoria, Az.. His three great grandchildren Riley Olmsted, of Albuquerque, Kyler Chavez of Lacey, WA. and James McAlister of Tempe, AZ. His sister and brother Marillyn Gwinn of Fishers, IN., and Jon Schwaner (Linda) of Greenfield, IN., and countless other family and friends. Fred grew up in Hartford City, Indiana where his mother and father owned C. Schwaner jewelry store on the square. Growing up he did many odd jobs including working on the railroad, delivering papers and working holidays in the jewelry store, all the while excelling in sports. Fred graduated from Hartford City High School in 1955 and went on to Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN., where he played football. He graduated with a degree in Psychology in 1959. He married his lifelong friend Margaret Ann Cronin on May 14, 1960 in Hartford City. Together they moved to Lansing, MI where Fred was an insurance agent and then on to Dallas where he worked for Oldsmobile. In 1964 he, Margie and their growing family move to Albuquerque where Fred became a District Manager for Oldsmobile. Fred was very active in his children's lives including spending many summers coaching baseball at Road Runner Little League and being the President of the St Pius Booster Club while the kids were in attendance there. After 25 years with Oldsmobile he retired and went on to work in auto sales at Lee Galles Oldsmobile and 14 years with Quality Pontiac from 1994 - 2008. In 2008 he hung up his auto sales shoes and enjoyed some down time. In recent years he enjoyed working on the various general, state, city and county elections. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel Ave., N.E., Albuquerque, NM 87122 on Friday, August 5th 2016 at 10:00 AM followed immediately by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd, N.E., Albuquerque, NM 87109.
