Curt was a proud graduate of the United States Air Force Academy. He remembered his time in service fondly, where he was a pilot, and especially enjoyed training other pilots to take flight. Curt married the love of his life, Joan (Marvel) Andrus on June 14, 1969. After completing his service in the Air Force, Curt and Joan became the proud owners of several Western Sizzlin Steakhouses in Colorado Springs. He enjoyed serving the community for many years. Eventually he chose to sell the restaurants, and become a ReMax real estate professional, where he continued to serve those around him. Perhaps his greatest love was his family, including his 5 children who survive him (Jennifer Moe, Terra Martin, Wendy Ayers, Burton Curtis Andrus, IV, and Katherine Bozkurt). Curt was a wonderful father, and was a proud grandfather to 8 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister and brother (Wendy Talich and Dr. Robert Andrus, DDS), as well as his loving wife of 55 years. He was preceded death by his parents (Col. Burton Curtis Andrus Jr. and Katherine Faus Andrus) and his sister, Marnie.
Curt’s legacy will be remembered by many. He was a jovial spirit, and often brought laughter and light to any gathering. He lived life to the fullest, and enjoyed many things such as skiing, flying, grilling steak, peanut butter sandwiches, Sam’s Club, football and spending time with family. He believed in Jesus Christ as his Savior, and we are blessed to honor his memory and legacy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Curt’s life will be honored by a memorial service and burial at the United States Air Force Academy on Friday, October 18th at 1 pm. Family and friends welcome.
