Brenda Marie Martinez

Brenda Marie Martinez, of Westminster, Colorado, passed away at a medical facility in Aurora on Saturday, January 3, 2026. She was 75 years old. Brenda was born May 27, 1950 in Urbana, Illinois to Alfred and Velma (Weaver) Getty. Her mother is surviving in Naperville, Illinois.

Brenda graduated from Lisle Community High School in 1968 and moved to Colorado in 1969. In 1979, she married Marty Martinez. Fulfilling a desire to teach, Brenda went back to school and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. She received her bachelors degree in Education in 1989. Soon after, Brenda became a pre-school teacher. She was still substitute teaching up until her passing. In addition to teaching, Brenda loved spending time with her family, shopping and crocheting. 

Brenda is survived by her daughters, Missy and Mandy; stepsons, Marty, Gerry, and Michael; her grandchildren, Annie, Paul, Emily, Steven, Arcadie, Ayden, Jordyn, Luke and great-grandchild, Cecelia.  In addition to her father, Alfred, Brenda was preceded in death by her sister, Janet.

A Funeral and Celebration of Life will be held 1pm, Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Horan & McConaty Funeral Chapel, 7577 W. 80th Avenue in Arvada. A public visitation will take place prior at 11am.
