Bonnie Jo Uecker

Bonnie J. Uecker, 85 surprised her family by transitioning to Heaven on Sunday, April 27th 2025 in San Antonio, Texas. A most treasured and precious mother and grandmother anyone could ever have.

She was born October 21, 1939 in Clairton, PA to John and Josephine Wingrove. The youngest of 5 children, she graduated from Berea High School in Ohio in 1957.

Bonnie attended Carnegie Institute where she earned her certification in 1958 as a Medical Laboratory Technician.

She had an adventurous side. At age 19, she moved, sight unseen to Wyoming taking her first job at a local hospital. She also lived in California and then South Dakota where she met and married Roger Uecker in 1963 after knowing him for only 2 weeks. Both decided to move to Denver, Colorado where they lived for over 30 years.

After her husband’s transition to Heaven in 1996, Bonnie moved to Connecticut to be with her daughter and granddaughter. She continued her adventures by moving with her family to two more states, Washington and Texas. What a terrific support she has been to her family all these years.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Uecker and granddaughter Alicia Uecker.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Uecker, her parents, John and Josephine Wingrove Her siblings and their spouses, James and Hideko Wingrove, Norma and Donald Critchlow and Eileen and William Stoneman. Ruth Wingrove (who died soon after birth).

Crossing the Rainbow Bridge: Andrew, Polly, Duncan and Maggie. The family’s wonderful dogs.

In her younger days, Bonnie was known as “Winnie” to her friends and work colleagues, but to us she was Mom and Nana. Two names that sound so generic and yet, they contain more love than can be described in mere words. God surely gave us the best when He gave her to us.

Because of her love of animals, if you would like to make a contribution to a special charity in lieu of flowers, Converse Animal Shelter in Converse, Texas is where one of the family cats was adopted or any no-kill animal shelter or sanctuary of your choosing would be lovely.

She also enjoyed supporting Perry Stone Ministries in Pigeon Forge, TN.
