Centennial

Bonnie Johns Buddin, 73, of Centennial, Colorado, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on December 17, 2023.  She was born on July 8, 1950, in Rushford, Minnesota, to Donald and Alma (Rue) Johns.  She grew up in rural Minnesota and graduated from Winona Senior High School in Winona, Minnesota.  While in high school, she won the Minnesota State High School Science Fair contest, and also won the Minnesota State High School Speech Tournament in extemporaneous speaking.  She then enrolled at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, graduating in 1975 at the top of her class with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology.  Next, she attended graduate school in psychology, first at the University of Kansas, and then at the University of Denver, in Denver, Colorado, graduating with a Ph.D. in psychology in 1998.  While in graduate school, she authored or co-authored several scholarly articles in academic journals on developmental psychology and her doctoral dissertation was voted the most outstanding dissertation.  At Luther College, she met the love of her life, Richard Buddin, and they were married in 1978.  They soon moved to the Denver/Boulder area, where she attended the University of Denver Graduate School and he attended the University of Colorado Law School. After receiving her Ph.D. from the University of Denver, she trained as a Reiki Master, and founded the Denver Center for Integrative Reiki, where she practiced Reiki, creative visualization and guided imagery meditation, and developed a national clientele.  She also taught Reiki to her students and sent new Reiki Masters into the world.  Her love and deep caring for each student and client made them feel loved and unique.  She embodied the loving kindness, unassailable strength and great gentleness associated with Reiki energy work.  Her love and wisdom will live on in those whose lives she influenced.  She is survived by her husband Richard, of Colorado, and her siblings Marilyn, Donald Jr., Barbara, and Jolaine, all of Minnesota, and many nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
