It is with heavy hearts to announce the passing of Maxine Zurek, a remarkable woman who lived 95 vibrant years with strength, resilience, and an adventurous spirit that inspired everyone who knew her.
Born with a zest for life that only grew with age, Maxine was a novice athlete who never let fear or convention hold her back. She embraced the thrills of water and snow skiing, horseback riding, bicycling, rollerblading, hiking, and dancing—breaking bones in almost every sport along the way but always getting back up. Singing was another passion that brought joy to her and those lucky enough to hear.
Maxine was fiercely independent, brave and always on the go. She faced life’s challenges with grace and determination, including surviving cancer, years of ups and downs as a loyal Denver Broncos fan, and three marriages! Her warmth, strength, and unstoppable energy made her loved by all who crossed her path.
She is survived by her loving sister, her devoted daughter, 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 never to be forgotten loving sons-in-law, 3 stepchildren, and countless family members, friends and admirers who cherished her unique spirit.
Maxine’s life was a testament to the power of women, courage, love, and a refusal to let age define adventure. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Funeral arrangements for Maxine’s extraordinary life will be held on:
Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 1pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, Colorado, 80232.
Private burial services will be at Fort Logan Cemetery.
Rest in peace, Maxine. May your indomitable spirit soar with Lyn and Stan as freely as you lived.
