Betty C. Whaley

November 27, 1928 — November 29, 2014

Betty C. Whaley Born 11/27/1928; Entered the Church Triumphant November 29, 2014. Mom celebrated her 86th birthday with her children Christie, Mike and Scott and her daughter-in-law Sandy on Thanksgiving Day; that Saturday she went to be with her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her husband Wes and her parents Ralph and Elizabeth Smith; surviving are her children Christie, Mike and Scott and her sister Beverly Bubeck of Kansas City, Kansas. Mom was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and attended East High School and Colorado Women's College. At a dance there she met her future husband Wes, an FBI agent on his first assignment in Denver; after they married they raised their three children during their moves around the country. Mom was an avid tennis and bridge player, world traveler and an enthusiastic and effective letter writer: her letters were frequently published in the opinion section of the newspaper, she effected at least one congressman to change his vote, but most important some of her letters - written with compassion - brought comfort to their recipients. She instilled in my brothers and me a love of laughter and a love and appreciation for this great country of ours. She is greatly loved and will be sorely missed and we thank our Lord and Savior for the 86 years we had with Mom and know that we will meet again. Memorial Service Saturday, December 20, 2014, 1:00pm, Faith Church, 11373 E. Alameda, Aurora, CO 80012. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the www.Alz.org (Alzheimer's Organization) is appreciated.
