Betty McCombs Kuhl lived a life defined by service, community, and celebration. She died peacefully in her Denver home on June 14, 2026, at the age of 87.
Born and raised in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Betty later moved to Texas, where she lived in Plano and Amarillo. She earned both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from West Texas State University. She dedicated her professional life to helping others, working as a therapist and teacher for several years. Betty eventually relocated to Denver, where she met and married her husband, Norm Kuhl.
Volunteer work was Betty's lifelong passion. She poured her energy into the Junior League of Amarillo and the Junior League of Denver. She also dedicated countless hours to the Volunteers of America Guild in Denver and the VOA Veterans Center.
Betty loved to connect with people. She regularly hosted lively parties and happy hours for her friends. In her younger years, she stayed active on the tennis court. She also loved traveling.
She was preceded in death by husband, Norm, her parents, Katie and Lee McCombs, and her brother, Rex Don McCombs, as well as her beloved son, Rob Hill. She is survived by her daughter, Terry Taylor of Denver.
A funeral service will take place at Christ Church Denver on Thursday, July 23 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, you are invited to honor Betty's memory by supporting Volunteers of America and their wonderful mission serving our community and neighbors.
