Born in Lincoln Nebraska to Earl and Zeta Dunlap, Betty Ruth Hewit passed away October 17, 2014 at the age of 91. Betty Ruth was raised in Gillette Wyoming and attended the University of Nebraska where she met and married William D. Hewit on August 10, 1944. She is pre-deceased by her husband Bill, two sons William E. Hewit, Robert D. Hewit and her brother Larry Dunlap. She is survived by her daughter Christie (husband Richard) Andrews and granddaughter Renee E. Andrews and brother Charles Dunlop. While at the University of Nebraska she majored in Music and Home Economics. She was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority and made many life long friends. Betty Ruth and her husband became ardent Husker supporters and played a key role in advancing the Nebraska Football program. She loved to dance, play the piano, golf and delighted in hosting neighborhood parties and Bridge Club. Betty Ruth survived Breast Cancer long before many people could. She battled Alheimer's disease in her later years yet somehow managed to always maintain her friendly, pleasant demeanor, laugh and welcoming smile. She was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
